Kitty on Wheels Chapter 1
Welcome to Chapter 1 of the ‘Kitty on Wheels’ podcast!
Dear Diary,
Hello, this is me, Griffin. I’m a majestic Maine Coon with a
glorious coat of white and silver fur that gleams like moonlight on a frosty
night. My luxurious mane makes me feel like royalty as I stroll through the
house, my tail held high and my whiskers twitching with curiosity.
Today is full of surprises! I’m settling into my new home,
and as I explore, I catch an intriguing scent—a hamster! My instincts kick in,
and I really want to catch this tiny creature for some fun. However, Fey, the
human here, introduces me to the hamster and says her name is Frida. To my
surprise, Frida isn’t exactly thrilled about meeting me and seems quite scared.
I must admit, her nervousness makes me a bit unsure too. I’ll have to be extra
gentle and patient with Frida as I adjust to this new chapter in my life.
Today I try to make friends with my new sister, Frida, but
she seems really scared of me. Fey keeps Frida in her bedroom, and that’s bad
news for me because it means I can’t go there. I love spending time with Fey,
so the thought of not being able to sleep in her room is a bit disappointing. I
hope that over time, Frida will warm up to me and maybe, just maybe, I’ll find
a way to be close to both of them. For now, I’ll have to find other cozy spots
to curl up in and hope that things get better soon.
Since I can't sleep in Fey's bedroom with Frida, I set out
on a quest to find the perfect new spot to rest in Fey's home. I explore every
nook and cranny, from the sun-drenched window sills to the soft, plush couches.
Each place has its own charm, but I’m determined to find my favorite. After
some exploring, I discover a cozy, high-up perch where I can watch over the
entire living room and bask in the warmth of the afternoon sun. It’s not quite
Fey’s bed, but it’s a close second and makes me feel content and secure as I
settle in for a well-deserved nap.
I jump onto the fluffy sofa in the living room today, and it
turns out to be the perfect spot! The cushions are so soft that I almost sink
into them, and the cozy warmth is just right. I settle in and enjoy the view of
the whole room from my new perch. It feels like the ideal place to relax and
unwind, making up for not being able to sleep in Fey’s bedroom. This sofa is
quickly becoming my favorite new retreat in the house.
I’m starting to wonder if my Maine Coon face is making Frida
scared. My large, majestic presence might be a bit intimidating for a tiny
hamster. I try to be gentle and calm, but her frightened reaction makes me
think she might find me a bit overwhelming. I hope that with time, she gets
used to me and sees that I mean no harm. For now, I’ll keep my distance and do
my best to show her that I’m a friendly giant.
I really wish I could sleep with Fey and Frida in her bed. I
imagine how cozy it would be to curl up in Fey’s hug and feel the warmth of her
bed. It’s a bit of a letdown that I can’t be there with them right now.
Instead, in real life, I find solace on the fluffy sofa in the living room.
It’s not quite the same as being snuggled up with Fey, but it’s still a
comfortable spot where I can rest and dream about those cozy nights together.
When Fey comes into the living room, I seize the chance to
cuddle up close to her, hoping to get some affection. I nudge and purr, trying
to make her notice me and offer a loving touch. As I attempt to snuggle into
her lap, Fey starts talking to Manow, the tuktuk driver, on the phone. Despite
the distraction, I stay close, pressing against her to show how much I crave
her warmth and attention. Fey eventually sits on the sofa, and I keep trying to
make her reach out and pet me, wishing for that comforting touch and the love I
so eagerly seek.

Tonight brings an unexpected twist. Fey arranges for Manow,
the tuktuk driver, to take me to the hospital for my scheduled vaccine. I’m a
bit anxious about the trip, but I trust Manow to get me there safely. As he
arrives to pick me up, I feel a mix of curiosity and nervousness. The ride to
the hospital is a new adventure, and I hope everything goes smoothly. I know it’s
for my health, but I still wish I could stay cozy at home. Here’s hoping for a
quick and easy visit, and maybe a bit of extra love when I get back.
Tonight, I explore the pet hospital for the first time, and
it’s quite an experience! As I step inside, I’m greeted by the sights and
sounds of many other pets. I see cats of all sizes and colors, as well as
friendly dogs wagging their tails. The bustling atmosphere is both exciting and
a little overwhelming. Despite my nerves, I’m curious about these new friends
and the new environment. I’m hoping the visit goes smoothly and that I’ll soon
be back home, cozy on my favorite sofa, with a new story to tell.
I wait in the queue with Manow for a whole hour, and it
feels like a lifetime! The hospital is busy, and the line moves slowly, which
tests my patience. I sit beside Manow, trying to stay calm and comfortable
amidst the commotion of other pets and their owners. Despite the long wait, I
remind myself that this is all part of getting the vaccine I need. I keep my
spirits up by watching the other animals and hoping that the wait will be over
soon so I can get back to the comfort of home.
When the vet finally calls my name, "Griffin," I
feel a mix of anticipation and nervousness. Manow gently brings me to the vet's
office, and I’m greeted by the vet who starts to check my body. As the vet
examines me, I do my best to charm them with my soft purrs and gentle nudges,
hoping to win their affection and make the experience more pleasant. I give my
most endearing look and try to be as calm as possible, wishing that a bit of my
Maine Coon charm will help make this visit a little easier.
The vet administers the vaccine, and it really stings! As
the needle goes in, I can’t help but let out a loud scream. The pain makes me
feel upset, and I’m no longer in the mood to charm the vet. Thankfully, Manow
gives me a comforting hug right after, which helps soothe my nerves a bit.
Despite the temporary hurt, I’m just looking forward to getting back home and
curling up in my favorite spots, away from the stress of the vet’s office.
After the hurt from the vaccine, Manow does his best to lift
my spirits. He offers me some wet cat food, and it’s absolutely delicious! The
tasty treat helps take my mind off the discomfort, and I savor every bite.
Manow’s kindness and the yummy food make me feel a bit better and more at ease.
It’s a small comfort, but it reminds me of the good things to come and helps me
recover from the tough experience.
Once Manow finishes his job, he brings me back to Fey’s
home. As soon as we arrive, Fey opens the door to welcome me back, but she
locks her bedroom to keep Frida safe. I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed
since I was hoping to reunite with both Fey and Frida. Despite the locked door,
I find comfort in the familiar surroundings and settle back into my new cozy
spot in the living room, grateful for Manow’s care and the delicious treat
earlier.
I realize that, for now, I will be sleeping alone in the
living room. With Fey’s bedroom locked to keep Frida safe, I understand that
I’ll be spending the night by myself. While it’s not quite the cozy arrangement
I hoped for, I make the best of it by curling up in my favorite spot on the
fluffy sofa. The soft cushions are comforting, and I find solace in the
familiar sounds of the house as I drift off to sleep, hoping for a peaceful
night and a better day tomorrow.
I try to settle in for the night, but sleep eludes me, so I
decide to explore the house. My first stop is the kitchen, where the enticing
smell of food from the refrigerator catches my attention. The aromas are
irresistible, and I’m drawn to the fridge, curious about what delicious treats
might be inside. As I investigate, I weave through the kitchen, taking in every
new scent and exploring every corner. It’s a late-night adventure, and although
I’m still tired, the excitement of discovery keeps me alert and engaged.
I’m determined to get to the food in the fridge, so I give
it my best shot. I paw at the fridge door, but as a cat, I don’t quite have the
skills to open it. I try 2 or 3 times, pushing and nudging with all my might,
but the door remains stubbornly closed. My efforts are met with frustration,
but I can’t help but be fascinated by the tantalizing scents wafting out.
Despite my lack of success, the adventure has kept me entertained and curious
about what other treasures might be hidden in this new home.
After my unsuccessful attempts to open the fridge, I decide
to continue my exploration and head to the bathroom. There, I discover the
intriguing jacuzzi. I’m fascinated by the large tub and the knobs, so I give
them a curious pawing. I even try to turn on the water, fascinated by the
sounds and movements. Although I can’t quite figure out how to make the water
flow, the adventure is exciting and keeps me engaged. I can’t wait to see what
other surprises this new home has in store for me.
As a Maine Coon, I’ve heard that we’re known for our love of
water, and tonight, I’m discovering why! While exploring the bathroom, my
fascination with the jacuzzi and my attempts to play with the water are a
testament to this trait. I’m captivated by the way water flows and splashes,
and my natural curiosity leads me to bat at the droplets and try to interact
with the flowing water. It’s a playful and delightful experience that perfectly
fits the Maine Coon reputation for being water-loving adventurers.
Feeling quite tired after my nighttime explorations, I
decide it’s time to dry off and get cozy. I start sweeping my body against
various surfaces around the house, hoping to shake off the moisture from my fur
and find a warm, dry spot to rest. My movements become a gentle, rhythmic
routine as I rub against furniture and carpets, seeking comfort and warmth.
Finally, with my fur feeling drier and more comfortable, I curl up in my
favorite spot on the sofa, ready to settle in for a much-needed rest.
Now that I’m dry and feeling more comfortable, I decide to
find a new place to sleep. I make my way to the front of Fey’s bedroom and
settle down just outside the door. It’s close enough to feel connected to Fey,
even if I can’t be inside the room with her and Frida. I curl up in a cozy spot
in the hallway, where I can rest peacefully and still be near my favorite
humans. It’s a comforting compromise, and I drift off to sleep, hoping for a
better and more restful night.
As I drift off to sleep, I dream of a beautiful garden where
Frida, Fey, and I are playing together. The sun is shining, and the Chiang Mai
wind gently blows, rustling the leaves and carrying the sweet scents of
blooming flowers. Frida and I chase each other around, our playful antics
making Fey laugh with joy. The scene is filled with happiness and warmth, and I
feel a deep sense of contentment as we all enjoy each other's company in this
idyllic setting. It’s a perfect dream, full of love and laughter, that makes me
look forward to the day when we can all be close and happy together.
Paws and whiskers,
Griffin
